Nativity Scene presenters are also a local factory, a hotel, the Muncipal Tourist Infocenter and a local museum. The general public visiting Nativity Scenes is also a beneficiary.
Description
Short description in English:
The making and building of Nativity Scenes has been a tradition in Třešť from early 19th century. Many folk artists and craftsmen (painters, carvers, carpenters, joiners, tailors and shoemakers) have been making their own Nativities for centuries. In the period around Christmas, they invite their fellow citizens to their homes to come and see the Nativity scense they have created. The tradition is still ongoing today. From 26th December to 2nd February, family households and other places are open and accessible to every visitor, who can wander through the town and visit each place showing Nativities. In recent decades, this activity has been organized by the voluntary Association of Nativity Scenes Supporters in Třešť, who made a map of households and other places of Nativities and established the „Nativities Path“. It gained the support of the muncipality (the initiative is promoted through the Muncipal Tourist Infocenter and local museum). By the initiative of the museum, the Path was included on the National List of Intangible Heritage of the Czech Republic (2015), which is the premise for the future UNESCO Wolrd Heritage List inscription.

Pro třešťské občany je typické stavění vyřezávaných betlémů. V období od 26.12 do 2.2 jsou betlémy volně zpřístupněny návštěvníkům nejen ve veřejných prostorách, ale převážně v soukromí, v domácnostech. Často jde o domovy tradičních betlémářských rodin, v nichž se vyrábění a stavění betlémů věnují už po generace. V roce 2017/2018 vystavovalo betlémy celkem 24 míst. Třešťské betlémy lákají návštěvníky z blízka i z daleka a to i v době, která je běžně turisticky „mrtvá“, zejména na Vysočině kvůli počasí (časté ledovky, vánice aj. nepříznivé jevy). Akci organizuje Spolek přátel Betlémů v Třešti a podporuje ji Město Třešť (Turistické a informační centrum) a městské muzeum (zastřešující organizace – Muzeum Vysočiny Třebíč). Návštěvníkům jsou dostupné mapy města se zakreslenými místy vystavených betlémů. Betlémská cesta byla r. 2015 zapsána na „Seznam nemateriálních statků tradiční lidové kultury České republiky“, což je první krok v budoucí snaze o zapsání na Seznam světového dědictví UNESCO.
